EUROCORES - EuroVOL
Titel des Programms
Ecology of Plant Volatiles, from Molecules to the Globe (EuroVOL)
Teilnehmende Länder
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Lithuania,
Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal Slovak Republic,
Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey
Ziel
The overall objective of EuroVOL will be to understand the roles of biogenic
volatiles in the food-web and in plant interactions with the environment
under current and future climate, and changes of land cover.
Inhalt
EuroVOL will aim at: 1) understanding biogenic volatile organic compounds
(BVOC) synthesis and emission (from leaf to globe); and 2) understanding
BVOC consequences (from individuals to communities). To reach these scientific
objectives, the programme schematically outlines the following specific
topics:
(i) The short vs. long-term control of environmental factors on BVOC
emission
(ii) The role of BVOC in plant protection against environmental abiotic
stresses
(iii) A new class of stressors: anthropogenic pollutants and BVOC
(iv) Global change influences on BVOC emission
(v) BVOC-mediated plant communication in the trophic webs and in a changing
environment
(vi) Land use change impact on BVOC emission.
(vii) Modelling BVOC and BVOC effects on past atmospheric chemistry and
climate
