The University of Vienna (15 faculties, 4 centres, about 174 fields of study, approx. 9.500 members of staff, more than 94.000 students) seeks to fill the position as soon as possible of a

University Assistant (prae doc)

at the Department of Physical Chemistry

 

Reference number: 8009

 

The group for Chemical Sensors and Rapid Analysis mainly focuses on designing novel biomimetic systems to selectively detect both chemical and biological species, respectively. It is regarded one of the leading groups worldwide in this area when it comes to mass-sensitive detection.

 

Duration of employment: 4 years

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

 

Job Description:

- Participating in research activities of the group in the fields of self organization/sensing

- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations

- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months

- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement in the fields of Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry

- Supervision of students

- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums

 

Profile:

- Masters or diploma degree in chemistry

- Experience in carrying out analytical measurements.

- Excellent command of written and spoken English

- IT user skills

- Previous experience in chemical sensing is appreciated
