University Assistant (prae doc)

at the Department of Biological Chemistry

 

Reference number: 8005

 

The Institute of Biological Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Vienna is currently seeking a Ph.D. student with experience in the area of organic synthesis, especially in peptide chemistry and selective protein modification and/or experience with biophysical characterization of peptide and protein interactions.

 

Duration of employment: 4 years

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

 

Job Description:

- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations

- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months

- Active research - The candidate will be involved in the synthesis of building blocks for peptide synthesis, the synthesis of modified peptides and proteins, their mass spectrometric analysis as well as in their biochemical characterization

- Participation in research projects / research studies

- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations

- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement

- Supervision of students

- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums

- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

 

Profile:

The candidate should hold a diploma or master degree in Biochemistry or Chemistry or related fields..

At least 6 months of experience in organic synthesis/peptide synthesis and/or protein biochemistry, ability to work in a team.
