ERA-Net
ERA-Chemistry
Originally an ERA-Net funded by the European Commission for a five-year period starting in 2004, this programme has been maintained under the same label – ERAChemistry – using the participating funding agencies' own budgets since 2010.
Objective
The ERAChemistry initiative is designed to further harmonise cooperation among member funding organisations in the field of chemistry and beyond. The objective is to form a European research funding network which is able to provide transnational funding for science with minimal national, formal and field-related limitations.
Participating countries/organisations
Belgium: FNRS and FWO, Germany: DFG, Finland: AF, France: CNRS, Ireland: IRCSET, Netherlands: NWO, Austria: FWF, Poland: ICHO PAN, Portugal: FCT, Spain: MICINN, Switzerland: SNF, Hungary: OTKA
Activities
Among the activities carried out until 2009, the Open Initiative proved to be especially successful. Each year, an open call (which is, however, limited to the field of chemistry) is held in which applicants can submit proposals for bilateral projects. From 2011, trilateral proposals will also be permitted.
