Support for Scientific Publications and for Science Communication

Translation and foreign language editing of stand-alone publications

Target group Scientists of any discipline
Goals Support for costs of the translation or foreign language editing of scientific works into a language commonly used for publications in the relevant scientific discipline; works should be translated in a satisfactory but economical form to make their contents accessible to a wider public
Requirements

The translated or edited work must be published by a respected scientific publishing house that specializes in the relevant subject field and that uses an international peer review procedure to select works for publication.
The translation or editing of foreign language must be performed by persons with demonstrable expertise in the subject area.

Level
up to EUR 8,000 Euro
up to EUR 6.000 Euro for open access publications for publishers
Applications
accepted continuously, no application deadlines
by means of application forms together with the contract with the publishing house
Allocation made by the FWF Board based on the application (justification for choice of language and explanation of value to be gained by the translation)
Processing time normally around 2 months
