Target group outstanding researchers of any discipline
Goals Scientists should be guaranteed the greatest possible freedom and flexibility in the performance of their research.

Requirements
international recognition in the field
permanent employment in an Austrian research organization
aged 55 or under and center of life in Austria for at least one year at the time of nomination (=deadline for nominations)
Length 5 years
Level up to EUR 1.5 Mio. per award
Nominations
may only come from people entitled to make such proposals
self-nominations are not permitted
deadline for nominations:
18th September 2013 (date of postmark)
Allocation
decisions taken by the International START-/Wittgenstein-Jury based on an international review process
June 13th - June 14th, 2014
awarded by the Federal Minister for Science
Number 1 or 2 Awards per year
