FWF Award for Science Communication

The FWF awards annually a 1st, a 2nd and five 3rd awards for science communication. The awards go to outstanding concepts which have the goal to communicate scientific contents from FWF promoted projects to important target groups. Principal investigators and project collaborators are triggered via this attractive incentive to identify measures which help to promote the knowledge about scientific research, the occupation of scientists and the methodological framework of basic research to a wider public; on the basis of concrete examples scientific research is presented.

The "sensitisation of the public for the meaning of the scientific research and its promotion, in particular by new forms of participative communication" (FTFG, in § 4 Abs. 1 lit. d) is a clearly defined legal order to the FWF; the FWF awards for science communications are a concrete measure, which contributes to fulfill this legal order.

All details about the attractively endowed prices can be found in the proposal (in German). The price is a visible indication that the FWF would like to be a stimulator for comparable activities.
