The Molecular Oncology Group at the Department for Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Medical University of Vienna is looking for a master’s student for the following project:
Detection and Molecular Characterization of Circulating Tumour Cells in Ovarian Cancer
In the frame of the EU-funded clinical trial GANNET53 circulating tumour cells (CTC) were enriched from patients’ blood samples based on differences in size and deformability. Cytospins were prepared from the cells. The master’s student will perform immunofluorescence staining for several antigens and use microscopy and image analysis for the detection of CTC. Results of pre and post therapeutic blood draws will be correlated with the patients’ outcome and clinical parameters. If feasible, identified CTCs can be isolated for subsequent genomic characterisation at a single cell level. The aim of the study is the evaluation of a prognostic and/or predictive role of circulating tumour cells.
DURATION: 12 months
STARTING DATE: as soon as possible
