The Center for Innovation Systems and Policy is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. Our Center for Innovation Systems and Policy addresses current and future requirements for research and innovation systems, as well as the courses of action that arise from these for research, technology, and innovation policy and their stakeholders. We focus on the one hand on the control of system transformation ("transitions") in areas such as energy, mobility, food, and urban development, and, on the other hand on potentially disruptive technologies and their possible impacts, particularly in connection with digitalization.

The Competence Unit Innovation & Industrial Dynamics focuses on characterising and explaining the dynamics of innovation and industry. The Competence Unit’s strongly empirical focus covers the collection and processing of large quantities of data, such as R&D projects, patents and publications, as well as the modeling of relationships within innovation systems, such as the influence of innovation on the socio-economic development of companies, regions, or countries.





You will complement our team with your strong theoretical and methodological expertise in the field of innovation economics and (industrial) transformation research.

As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will work on national and international research and consulting projects in the Research Fields of Innovation Systems & Digitalisation and Innovation Dynamics & Modeling.

You will work on the TPS (Transformation Pathways & Strategy) project, addressing currently central transformation topics, such as green and digital transformation, energy, agro-food, or the global transformation of industrial value chains (global dependencies, sovereignty).

You will create and interpret data and indicators related to innovation and transformation and apply them in advanced econometric or simulation models.

You conduct qualitative surveys and perform analyses in the context of innovation ecosystems (interviews, workshops, stakeholder processes).

You apply scientific methods in publications as well as in projects for Austrian and European policy advice.

You engage in the acquisition of nationally and internationally funded and commissioned projects in innovation and transformation research.


Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

You hold a degree (min. Master’s Degree) in Economics or Social Sciences with a quantitative focus

Advanced knowledge of quantitative methods (econometrics, data analysis methods and tools)

Advanced knowledge of qualitative methods (surveys, interviews, workshops)

Accuracy and precision in data and indicator preparation

Programming skills in R-Cran as well as databases (MS Access, SQL) are an advantage

Sense of responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills

Creativity and enthusiasm for unconventional solutions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English


What to expect:

The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is € 57.890,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience. The position is initially limited until 31st of December 2026.
