Master thesis at the Medical University Vienna
- Molecular Biology, Genetics
- Dept. of Vascular Biology and Thrombosis Research
We are looking for a creative and motivated master student, who is interested in investigating the role of inflammation in cancer, as well as thrombosis. The position will be available from March 2018 in the research group of Prof. Johannes A. Schmid at the Department of Vascular Biology and Thrombosis Research.
The transcription factor family of NF-κB has an essential role in inflammation and innate immunity and is a central player in inflammatory processes, stress response, cell proliferation, cell differentiation and counteracts cell death by upregulating anti-apoptotic genes. An aberrant regulation of NF-κB is linked to cancer and different diseases including inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and therefore it is an important target for anti-inflammatory drugs.
If you are interested to investigate the protein interaction dynamics between the proto oncogene c-Myc and proteins of the NF-κB signaling pathway and to acquire a wide range of skills in the field of molecular biology including genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9, reporter assays, cell culture, confocal fluorescence microscopy,…send an application letter and CV to:
