We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join the “Translational Tumor Immunology” Lab of Dr. Dietmar Herndler-Brandstetter at the Institute of Cancer Research (Medical University of Vienna) (https://krebsforschung.meduniwien.ac.at/en/forschung-research/research-focus/cellular-and-molecular-tumorbiology/dietmar-herndler-brandstetter/).


We have recently generated long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) knockout mouse models using CRISPR/Cas9 to investigate the role of lncRNAs in T cell-mediated immunity (infection and cancer). By using state-of-the-art technologies (e.g. scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, 13-color flow cytometry, in vivo transfer and disease models) you will have the opportunity to investigate the molecular mechanisms of lncRNA-mediated regulation of T cell differentiation and function.



+ M.Sc. or equivalent degree in immunology, molecular/cellular biology, pharmacy or a related discipline

+ High accuracy in scientific work and a proactive approach to solving problems

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

+ High self-motivation and desire to work in an international research environment

+ Research experience with immunological, molecular and cellular biology methods is a plus

+ Research experience with mouse models is a plus



+ Employment at the Medical University of Vienna for 3-4 years

+ Enrollment in the “Malignant Disease” or “Immunology” PhD program

+ Gross salary of approx. 30.870 EUR per year, according to the Austrian Science Fund (FWF): https://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/
