We invite highly motivated applicants who are interested in Transplantation to be part of our scientific team. The available position is fully covered by the Medical University of Vienna and the student will be enrolled in the “Doctoral Programme of Medical Sciences - Programme for Organ Failure-, Replacement and Transplantation (POET)”. https://poet.meduniwien.ac.at
The project focuses on organ machine perfusion. The PhD student will learn how to handle machine perfusion of the liver and work on the evaluation of liver quality during normothermic liver machine perfusion, assessment of biomarkers during normothermic and hypothermic liver machine perfusion and evaluation of clinical outcome of patients after transplantation of perfused liver grafts.
The successful candidate will be embedded in the highly multidisciplinary and collaborative environments at the Division of Transplantation at the Medical University of Vienna. The student will work together with transplant surgeons, transplant coordinators, nurses, and technicians and will be in contact with patients.
- A degree in human medicine
- Very good English writing skills
- Motivation for an academic career
- Previous experience with scientific writing and standard laboratory experiments (e.g. ELISA, western blot) are advantageous.
