PhD Position in Molecular Biology at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz
The laboratory of Assoc. Prof. Tiemann-Boege at the department of Biophysics at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz is seeking to recruit new students interested in pursuing their PhD. Applications from young scientists interested in working with next generation technologies and new methods for DNA analysis are particularly welcomed. The initial appointment will be made for one year with a possible extension to up to four years. The position is available starting September 2020 and will be paid according to the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) salary scheme.
The particular doctoral project will focus on measuring de novo mutations during germline ageing. The project also involves pioneering technology developments in next-generation sequencing protocols that will complement the in-house know-how in digital PCR, bioinformatics, and mutagenesis.
Applications from independent and self-motivated young scientists interested in working with new methods for DNA analysis including are particularly welcomed. The successful candidate will have a strong background in genetics and molecular biology. Some background in evolutionary biology, population genetics, and bioinformatics would be ideal, but not required. The working language in the laboratory is English.
