PhD position: Economic and ecological evaluation of processing schemes for enzymatic recycling of multilayer packaging
- Boku Wien
Economic and ecological evaluation of processing schemes for enzymatic recycling of multilayer packaging
in Vienna / Austria for 30 hours a week
That’s the project
The overall objective of the EU funded ENZYCLE project (H2020-BBI-JTI-2019) is to valorise and upgrading non-recycled plastic fractions through enzymatic processes to obtain high value-added products. Within the project, new processes for enzymatic recycling of multilayer packaging, post-consumer PET trays and microplastics will be developed with the aim of enhancing the sustainability of these wastes, within a framework of circular economy. Economic process models will be established for a detailed evaluation of the different processing strategies (continuous vs. batch cultivation) on a COGs base. The SuperPro Designer software package and Biosolve will be used to evaluate a defined set of production scenarios. Input from academic and industry partners involved in design of processing units/schemes will provide the data base for setting up accurate models of practical relevance considering application/branch specific aspects (scales, raw material…).
