Senior Scientist
at the Department of Analytical Chemistry

Our highly motivated team is looking for a Senior Scientist (Post-Doc) with experience in metabolomics at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry. The successful candidate will develop miniaturized metabolomics workflows with the ultimate aim of "single cell metabolomics". The candidate will work within interdisciplinary teams (analytical chemists, clinical, biostatistics and bioinformatics scientists). The vacancy is temporary for the duration of a staff member's absence. After the end of the employment as a "Karenzvertretung", an extension up to 2 years as a project team member/ post-doc is then possible provided the excellent performance of the candidate.
The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff.
Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Accomplishment of research projects in the area of mass spectrometry driven metabolomics at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry. Furthermore, the candidate will have to teach courses independently to the extent specified in the Kollektivvertrag.
Profile:
- PhD degree in Chemistry or equivalent, preferably in analytical chemistry
- Expertise in mass spectrometry
- Teacher experience for internships and lectures
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- IT user skills
- Ability to work in a team
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have:
- Experience in mass spectrometry, chromatography and
- evaluation of metabolomics/lipidomics data sets
- The successful candidate will also be a team player with:
- strong communication
- data presentation, visualization and written skills
- Enthusiasm for learning more in this field
Desirable qualifications are:
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Experience of supervising students
