Open Position: Master Student (Thesis project)
- Internal Medicine I - Thrombosis and Haemostasis
- Medical University of Vienna
The Thrombosis and Haemostasis Research Group at the Department of Internal Medicine I, Medical University Vienna, is seeking to recruit a motivated Master Student for 6 - 12 months.
We are a diverse and enthusiastic team of scientist and medical doctors, at the Department of Internal Medicine I of the Medical University of Vienna based at the University Hospital Vienna and the Anna Spiegel Center of Translational Research. We use a wide-range of techniques including ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry, microscopy, western blotting to dissect the mechanism in thrombosis and haemostasis, to improve the understanding of risk and clinical course of venous thrombosis and bleeding disorders.

The master student will be involved in ongoing project-oriented research. We offer the opportunity to work in an excellent, multidisciplinary environment in a modern research building within the MedUniWien/AKH campus.
Thrombosis is a major health concern in the general population. One in 4 people worldwide die from conditions caused by thrombosis and venous thromboembolism is the third most common cardiovascular disease that occurs in all age groups, albeit the risk increases sharply with age. The aim of this project is to unravel the role of inflammation and biological aging in patient cohorts with a high rate of cardiovascular disease, and find the connection between thrombosis and oxidative stress.
