The Department of Material Sciences and Process Engineering, Institute of Wood Technology and Renewable Materials is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of August 2023, limited to 31st of July 2029
Workplace: 3430 Tulln a.d. Donau
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1, € 4.351,90
Responsibilities:
- Acquisition, execution and management of competitively funded basic and application-oriented research projects in the area of "wood adhesive bonding" as well as participation in the same
- Project reporting and scientific publishing in the context of relevant research projects
- Teaching in the field of wood technology and wood physics
- Supervision of bachelor theses as well as co-supervision of master theses and dissertations
- Support service for analytical equipment (eg. nanoindentation)
- Participation in university organization and public relation activities
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree/PhD in the field of wood technology, wood science, polymer chemistry or science, (technical) chemistry or related relevant fields
- Language skills: German and English, both C1/C2
- Well-founded experience in the area of wood-adhesives, bonding of wood or other renewable raw materials
- Documented experience in publishing research results (e.g. publications in peer-reviewed journals, at scientific conferences, etc.)
- Basic experience in acquiring research funding
- Ability to work independently and reliable
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Very good ability to integrate into a team and to learn quickly
- Experience in applying for funding and executing research projects
- Outstanding methodological competence in one or more of the following areas relevant for wood bonding: synthesis; polymer chemistry; polymer physics; chemistry of renewable materials; mechanical testing; manufacture and testing of adhesives, wood bonds and wood-based materials; VOC emission; rheology, thermal analysis,...
