As part of the “Quantum Research and Technology” (QFTE) programme, Austrian research institutes and research companies will have the opportunity to apply for funding from the FFG and the FWF. In the call, the FWF will offer funding opportunities for postdocs. The FFG supports applied cooperative R&D projects.
The first call for QFTE is scheduled to open in April 2018. Austrian applicants will have the opportunity to apply to the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency) and FWF (Austrian Science Fund) funding organisations for support for defined research and development measures.
With its first call in 2018, the FWF is offering targeted funding for postdocs. With a maximum term of up to three years, priority is given to the personnel costs of a postdoc. During the funding period, the postdoc will work in a cooperation between a research facility and a company in the field of quantum research and technology development.
In QFTE, the FFG offers funding for cooperative research and development projects. Research institutions and companies jointly define an application-oriented project in the field of quantum research and technology. The requirement is the involvement of at least one Austrian company. The maximum term is three years.
For both measures, the FWF and the FFG have a budget of around €5.5m at their disposal. The funds will be granted by the Austrian National Foundation.
Submission will only be possible at the respective funding organisation. Details on the calls are expected in the course of April 2018.
