In the submission portal elane, the coordinators can now create applications for the concept phase (1st stage – draft proposal) for the funding programmes SFBs and research groups, so that the respective host research institutions can carry out the approval and submission process. The deadline for submissions is September 30th at 2 pm.
As already outlined in FWF’s strategic paper for 2019-2021, the restructuring of the roles of selected funding programmes in the handling of funding and the drafting of contracts has started in the context of FWF’s digitization process. Thus funding will now be handled by the respective research institution (contractual partner) and no longer directly by the researcher ad personam. Under the name of PROFI (Project funding via the research institution), projects are handled in accordance with § 27 UG for research institutions subject to the University Organisation Act (UG). The research institution assumes legal (organizational-administrative) responsibilities as a contractual partner. At the same time, the autonomy of the researchers with regard to research content is ensured.
In a pilot phase in 2017, the doc.funds funding programme was already successfully converted to project management via PROFI. Further programmes that include a thematic focus at the research institutions were also put out to tender in PROFI mode (SFBs, research groups, Zukunftskollegs). Now the next stage of development has been achieved, i.e. the project submission portal elane has been expanded to the point that the projects being added now can be submitted in PROFI mode via the electronic portal elane by the research institutions.
At this point, the FWF would like to point out that a one-off registration process is required for submission by the research institutions, further information can be found here. Submission via the newly designed portal thus eliminates the need for a printed and signed cover sheet for these programmes.
