Austrian Education Minister Iris Rauskala recognized the work of three Austrian researchers who are based in the USA with the ASCINA Awards. At the end of the “Austrian Research and Innovation Talk” (ARIT) in New York, the computer scientists Manuel Egele and Johannes Reiter as well as the chemist Hannes Mikula received these awards for excellent research publications.

The awards are presented by the Austrian Ministry of Education and the ASCINA (Austrian Scientists and Scholars in North America) association on the basis of an opinion by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). The awards go to young researchers in recognition of work published in the previous year at North American research institutions.
