Good research is based on critical examination and systematic exploration. The greater the transparency and reproducibility, the greater the trust in research. Integrity and ethics are essential parts of the research process and characteristic features of excellent research in accordance with the highest international standards.
For many years now, FWF-funded researchers have consistently followed the guidelines for good research practice, and the FWF’s allocation of funding is firmly rooted in internationally accepted ethical standards. A glance at the FWF’s statistics over the last ten years shows them to be an outstanding testament to researchers: from more than 30,000 proposals, there have been only 29 cases of violations against good research practice.
