How does the FWF react to rising costs (November 2022)?

The FWF is aware of the inflation rates and rising costs affecting your research projects. However, we currently have not been given any special budget from the federal government to implement additional measures to counteract these increased expenses. With regard to personnel cost rates, the next increase is scheduled to occur as usual in spring 2023 and will be based on the universities’ salary negotiations. Additional costs for equipment and its operation still needs to be covered by the flat-rate budget. The valorisation of PROFI personnel costs is currently being reviewed. In addition, the FWF is lobbying for additional funds to cover rising costs long term in its negotiations on the next funding agreement (2024 – 2026) with the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF).
