2017-10-24 / 14:00 CET

Short Description

Joint Research Programme
Public Spaces: Culture and Integration in Europe

For more than ten years now, the FWF has been a member of the HERA research network. This European humanities initiative involves funding agencies from 24 countries and has at its disposal a total of €20 million in funding (including co-funding from the European Commission). By participating in this ERA-NET, the FWF has made a strong commitment to the humanities in Austria and to cross-border research cooperation.

The latest HERA call was announced on 24 August 2017. It enables researchers based in Austria to submit proposals for transnational research projects related to the topic of Public Space: Culture and Integration in Europe. This broad theme makes it possible for a wide variety of humanities disciplines to respond to the call.

In order to do so, researchers from at least 4 countries participating in the HERA network must prepare a joint proposal for a research project with a maximum duration of 3 years. For each project, a maximum of €1 million can be requested. The application and review procedure is a two-stage process in which applicants first submit outline proposals and may then be invited to submit full applications.

Researchers from the following countries are eligible to apply

Austria, Belgium (Wallonia), Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Outline proposals must be written in English and submitted via the HERA online system.
The call will remain open until 2:00 pm (CEST) on 24 October 2017.

Applicants will be notified of the submission deadline for full proposals in due course. Funding decisions are currently expected to be made in late autumn 2018, with approved projects to begin in May 2019.
