The common Call for Proposals “Quantum Research and Technology (QFTE)” by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) was opened on June 11, 2019. National research projects in quantum technologies can be proposed to both funding agencies until September 24, 2019.
With this national call, the FWF is offering funding for thematically clearly defined research projects in the field of quantum technologies which possess the potential for application and promote the transfer of knowledge from basic research to the development and application of these technologies. The maximum term is three years.
The FFG offers funding for cooperative research and development projects. Research institutions and companies jointly define an application-oriented project in the field of quantum research and technology. The requirement is the involvement of at least one Austrian company. The maximum term is three years.
Submission will only be possible at the respective funding organisation. Funding decisions about FWF-funded projects will be made in the FWF Board's session in March 2020. The FFG Jury meeting will take place in December 2019 or January 2020.
For both measures, the FWF and the FFG have a budget of around €4.5m at their disposal. The funds will be granted by the Austrian National Foundation.
