Short Description

Call for START applications 2023

The fundamental aim of the START-Programme is the promotion of outstanding researchers from all disciplines at the beginning of their academic career with at least two and at most eight years of postdoctoral experience who have already produced academic work of a top international standard and whose academic careers to date make it likely that they will continue to perform first-rate research in the future.

A START project with a duration of 60 months and a budget of up to EUR 1.2 million (around EUR 200,000 per year) offers project leaders not only the management of a generously funded research project but also the opportunity to finance their own salary from the funds. The call is open to researchers from all countries and all disciplines who wish to conduct their research at an Austrian research institution.

Starting with this call the application process and the administration of funding will be carried out via PROFI (project funding via research institutions).

START applications can be submitted via the electronic application portal elane until September 20th 2022 (2 pm CEST).
