Laboratory Management & Research Technician with focus Synthesis – Venkataraman group

Your Responsibilities
The Venkataraman group works at the interface between chemistry and physics probing, manipulating, and controlling single molecules as active elements of circuits. We advance the field known broadly as molecular electronics, while also broadening the understanding of charge transfer at metal/organic interfaces. The position will be centered around maintaining and assuring the overall efficient running of the laboratory while engaging with team members to advance the group’s research goals. We are looking for a proactive team member to support us with the following tasks:
Taking a lead position in the lab organization (training users, managing stocks, ordering consumables, keeping our database up to date, etc)
Implementation of new equipment (e.g. E-Beam Evaporator, scanning probe instruments) in the laboratory and assistance in experimental setups
Basic synthesis (e.g. Buchwald-Hartwig coupling, Suzuki coupling etc)
Assisting with scanning probe microscopy and NMR characterization
Mediating interactions with our Scientific Service Units (e.g. Nanofabrication facility)
Supporting internal users with using laboratory infrastructure, reporting of results, and proof reading of documents or publications
Contribute to multidisciplinary projects within the lab
Take part in group meetings and provide solutions to everyday challenges
Being part of an interactive group of students, postdocs, and technicians with diverse backgrounds
Your Profile
Completed studies (M.Sc.) in Chemistry, Material Science, or other relevant fields
Proven experience in managing laboratory services in Chemistry (data management, instruments, resource management, storage of chemicals, waste management, etc)
Experience in managing laboratory systems and supplies
Theoretical and practical knowledge of chemical/physical characterization techniques
Experience with scanning probe microscopy and NMR characterization of advantage
Proficiency in English with exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
Strong organizational skills, reliability, a sense for responsibility, and a team-player attitude
Proactive personality with a solution-oriented approach
