The Clinical Department for Small Animals and Horses is looking for an

 

University Assistant (Post-Doc) with option for a tenure-track position in the field of Ophthalmology

 

in accordance with Section 27 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff

 

Grade of employment: B1 Post-Doc (following signature of the qualification agreement: A2)

Level of employment: 40 hours weekly

Length of employment: limited to 6 years (with possibility of a permanent contract after successful completion of the agreement)

Responsibilities

• Independent implementation of scientific projects in the field of ophthalmology with the focus on small animals and horses

• Independent conducting and supervision of the ophthalmological consultation hour

• Independent performance of ophthalmological operations

• Independent teaching activities in ophthalmology

• Authoring of publications and acquisition of external funding

• Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students including supervision of theses (diploma theses)

• Participation in science, teaching, knowledge transfer and administration

• Responsible participation in the clinical service for the University Clinic for small animals including weekend and night services in the area of ophthalmology

 

Required education, qualifications and experience

• Completed studies in veterinary medicine and doctorate / PhD in the field of ophthalmology

• ECVO Diplomate or board-eligible (completed residency)

• Well-founded knowledge in in the field of ophthalmology in small animals and horses

• Publication activity as first author

• Postgraduate research experience at least at a further university/research institution for no less than six months in total

• English level B2

The Position

The tenure-track position includes the option of negotiating a qualification agreement (QV in accordance with Section 27 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff). The initial contract will be as a postdoctoral assistant with QV option. When the QV is signed, the position will be reclassified as an assistant professorship. When the provisions of the qualification agreement are met, the job holder will be promoted to tenured associate professor.

 

Minimum salary

The minimum salary for university staff is regulated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff and at the B1 level amounts to EUR 4,752.30 gross (contract with the option of negotiating a qualification agreement). Upon signing the qualification agreement, the salary increases to EUR 5,595.60 gross and when the provisions of the qualification agreement are met it is further increased to EUR 6,055.70 gross. The salaries are stated per month, paid fourteen times per year.
