The “Network Pharmacology” research group headed by Ulrich STELZL at the University of Graz, Austria, is a seeking outstanding, highly motivated candidate as

Ph.D. / Doctoral student

The position is funded through the Austrian Research Fund (FWF); starting from Nov 2024.

The position:

The candidate will perform research in the field of Proteomics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell biology in the network pharmacology group at the Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences in order to obtain a doctoral degree (Dr rer nat).

The group is focusing on the analysis of molecular interaction networks with the aim to understand the dynamics of molecular networks underlying cellular processes related to human disease. Experimental functional genomics techniques, e.g. HTP Y2H screening, mass spectrometry and next gen sequencing, are utilized in combination with biochemical, cell biological and computational methods. Network biology will advance our understanding of the molecular changes in complex diseases and of drug action and will be an important piece in developing individualized medicine. The successful candidates will join a top-equipped, active interdisciplinary research environment at the interface between basic and applied research.

To apply:

Applicants should hold a Masters degree in biological sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, proteomics, or a related life science discipline.

If you are interested, please send a short letter of motivation briefly outlining your interests (one page max), a full CV including a specific description of your practical molecular biology experience and your computational skills, together with the contact details of at least two referees in a single pdf file via email to ulrich.stelzl@uni-graz.at
