Ph.D position
The ‘Bone Cancer Metastasis Group’ at the CCR of the MUW is seeking highly motivated PhD candidates as part of research project for the FWF Principal Investigator Program.
The research project offers a highly competitive research training program in cancer biology with a focus on osteosarcoma, most common malignant bone cancer, as benchmarks of cancer development. The project aims to understand the mechanisms of cancer initiation, recurrence and metastasis using newly developed genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) combining with multiomics approach, leading to innovative therapeutic applications. The training is mainly provided by CCR with expertise spanning molecular and cellular research, human and mouse genetics, bioinformatics, mathematics, biomarkers, and drug development. Joint research training and participation in workshops and meetings will foster communication and outreach efforts, to raise appreciation of societal challenges and open new job opportunities.
POSITION: The selected PhD candidate will be employed for 3 years with the FWF-funded contract that includes competitive salary and social benefits. The opportunity to work in an excellent and multidisciplinary environment is provided at the CCR/MUW. Further, the PhD candidate will also have opportunities to apply for their own fellowship(s).
Start date: May in 2025
WHO CAN APPLY: Good team worker. Applicants must hold or be close to obtaining a Master or equivalent degree in any discipline of Life Sciences or bioinformatics or related fields with evidence of high academic achievements. Previous experience in mouse/animal models and/or computational biology is desired but not essential. English is the working language.
