PhD position: in the area of sustainable production – green chemistry
That’s the project:
The utilization of enzymes as powerful catalysts for a sustainable and atom-efficient production of relevant targets has become an attractive alternative to traditional chemistry. Since the robustness of enzymes plays a pivotal role for industrial, large-scale applications, this project aims to provide a deeper insight and understanding on crucial properties of enzymes in particular concerning enzyme stability in the presence of solvents and other organic compounds and its challenges and ideally how to address them.
The candidate will employ wet lab techniques to identify basic aspects of enzyme (de)stabilization, ideally identify its origin in order to be able to design more robust biocatalysts. Establishing general rules to predict the influence of e.g. organic co-solvents etc. on enzyme (de)stabilization would be an ultimate goal.
That could be your future:
You are working in an enjoyable work climate, have numerous possibilities for further education and personal development. You are part of a challenging and helpful work environment full of team spirit and enthusiasm for your job. You expand your expertise and bridge your science to industry.
