Postdoc position: Gene regulation in skin appendages
The position of a postdoctoral researcher is available in the project “Molecular evolution of skin appendages” at the Department of Dermatology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria. The project is supported by the Austrian Science Fund, FWF.
The aim of our project is to determine mechanisms and evolutionary adaptations of gene regulation in skin appendages of vertebrates. This project continues research on the role of the transcription factor Hoxc13, which we have published recently in Nature Communications (doi: 10.1038/s41467-024-46373-x). The results of this study will help to define the evolutionary origin of hair at the molecular level and shed new light into the control of epithelial cell differentiation in mammalian and non-mammalian skin appendages.
We welcome applications from postdoctoral molecular biologists, in particular from colleagues with experience in the investigation of gene expression under the control of transcription factors.
Requirements:
PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, evolutionary biology or related field
Experience in the relevant methods of molecular biology
Enthusiasm for science
Our offer:
Excellent research environment
Support in career development
Salary according to the regulations of the Austrian Science Fund
Please send your application including a motivation letter, CV, and names of two referees or two reference letters (pdf, maximum 2 MB) to leopold.eckhart(at)meduniwien.ac.at. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until February 15, 2025.
