Postdoctoral Position Ribosome Turnover in Caenorhabditis elegans
- Postdoctoral Position in Graz, Austria
- Ribosome Biogenesis and Turnover in Caenorhabditis elegans
About the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team. This project will investigate whether ribosomes in non-dividing cells undergo turnover or remain stable throughout a cell’s lifetime. Using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism, we aim to measure ribosome synthesis and decay rates and assess the functional consequences of inhibiting ribosome biogenesis on cellular aging and organismal lifespan.
Our Research Group
Our group is part of the Institute of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Graz (https://molekularbiologie.uni-graz.at/en/). We focus on unravelling the molecular mechanisms underlying ribosome biogenesis, primarily using yeast as a model system. Now, we are expanding our research to C. elegans to explore ribosome homeostasis in multicellular organisms. Our team provides a collaborative and dynamic research environment, with strong expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry.
What we Offer
- A full-time postdoctoral contract (initially one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years).
- A competitive salary (€ 69,060.60 annual gross salary) with full social benefits.
- Access to state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative research environment.
- Career development opportunities, including participation in specialized training programs, mentoring, and networking events.
Position Requirements:
- A PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field.
- A strong passion for fundamental research and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Expertise in molecular biology and/or biochemical techniques.
- Desirable: Experience working with C. elegans as a model organism.
How to Apply:
Interested applicants should submit a single PDF file including
- A cover letter detailing their research interests and motivation for applying.
- A detailed CV including a list of publications.
- A copy of their PhD certificate.
We look forward to receiving your application and potentially welcoming you to our team!
