Research assistant (R1)
The Institute of Applied Geometry (www.ag.jku.at) of the Johannes Kepler University, Linz/Austria, is looking for a research assistant (PhD student, fixed-term contract for up to 4 years).
The position is part of the FOR 5492 network project "Polytope Mesh Generation and Finite Element Analysis Methods for Problems in Solid Mechanics", led by RWTH Aachen University (Germany). The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue a PhD.
Applicants are encouraged to apply if they have a strong background in at least one of the areas of geometric modelling and numerical analysis. Expertise on Computational Geometry is particularly welcome.
A master-equivalent degree in mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field is required. The working language is English.
The city of Linz, Austria's third largest city with a population of 210,000, is located on the Danube, 80 km from the Austrian Alps.

The yearly gross salary in accordance with the collective agreement amounts to \EUR 34.507,20 (as of 2023) for a Ph.D. student (working time 30 hours/week).
