Our Institute
The ERC-funded Obenauf Group at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) is recruiting a highly motivated Research Associate interested in cancer therapies and metastasis biology. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting experimental research projects and contributing to the routine management and organization of the laboratory. They will be an integral member of a dynamic and ambitious group of scientists to support cutting-edge basic and biomedical research.
The Obenauf lab is a multidisciplinary group interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor progression and immune evasion. Clinical puzzles inspire our work, and we develop and employ a wide array of molecular biology, biochemistry, and in vivo approaches with the vision and mission of guiding rational combination therapies.
Research Associate (m/f/d) - Full Time
Your Tasks
* Support research projects: Design and carry out experiments independently or semi-independently. Analyze and interpret experimental results and provide input to subsequent experimental design. Conduct mouse experiments, assist with tissue culture maintenance, and perform routine molecular biology assays.
* Contribute to laboratory management: Take responsibility for maintaining lab inventories, ordering and restocking supplies, organizing shared equipment and workspaces, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
* Become an integral member of our team: Contribute to cutting-edge cancer research by collaborating with our team members. Get involved in projects, provide support, and contribute to the team spirit, all while gaining experience in a vast array of molecular techniques and approaches.
Your Profile
* Training in molecular biology (e.g., Master and/or PhD).
* Previous experience in mouse work and tissue culture is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
* Experience with FACS (to characterize the immune compartment) and molecular cloning/functional genetics skills is desirable. Experience in cancer modeling and metastasis generation in mice is a plus.
* Collaborative mindset and motivation to work in an international, interdisciplinary environment.
* Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive “getting things done” mentality.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (German language skills are not required).
