Your personal sphere of influence:

In the group of Prof. Dr. Veronika Somoza at the Institute of Physiological Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry, the position of a § 99 (1) Professor for Physiological Chemistry and Cellular Biochemistry is to be filled for 5 months, part-time, 10 hours per week, as soon as possible and limited until max. 28.02.2025 (for the duration of the absence of a member of the institute).

The successful candidate will represent the fields of physiological chemistry and cellular biochemistry in teaching and research. The professorship requires a high commitment in teaching and participation in the implementation of innovative teaching concepts.

 

We expect the successful candidate to be enthusiastic about scientific development in the fields of physiological chemistry and cellular biochemistry with reference to age-dependent responses of cells to metabolic stress, for example in the field of protein homeostasis and to have already a corresponding international visibility with high-impact publication activity and third-party funding.

Moreover, the candidate’s participation in existing or planned research collaborations of the Faculty of Chemistry or the University of Vienna is expected as well as a high motivation to integrate into existing and planned interdisciplinary clinical and scientific collaborations of the faculty.

 

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in teaching, research & administration, which means:

Participation in research projects and scientific studies in the field of physiological chemistry and cellular biochemistry with reference to age-dependent responses of cells to metabolic stress, for example in the field of protein homeostasis

International publications and lectures

Independent teaching of courses in accordance with the collective agreement

Participation in administrative tasks in research and teaching

 

This is part of your personality:

Doctorate/PhD and at least 5 years of post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution

Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution

A relevant habilitation (venia docendi) or an internationally recognized equivalent qualification is desirable

Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication record, international reputation

Experience in the conception, acquisition and management of larger research projects as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups

Strong communication skills that promote interdisciplinary collaboration

Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, university teaching experience as well as the ability and willingness to teach at all curricular levels (Bachelor's, Master's, doctorate), supervise theses and promote young academics

Didactic skills / experience in e-learning

Excellent knowledge of English (C1)

You are a team player with strong social/communication skills
