The European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD) brings together over 130 institutions from 35 countries to create a comprehensive, sustainable environment to facilitate a successful interaction between research, care, and medical innovation.

Target group

The funding program is aimed at researchers working in the field of rare diseases at universities, non-academic research institutions, and research departments in related sectors.

Funding goals

Rare diseases are a good example of how pooling expertise and resources, along with coordinating national and European efforts, makes scientific advances possible. Despite significant efforts to date, there is still room for improvement in rare disease research in Europe. The goal is to use data and resources more efficiently, accelerate scientific progress, and improve the treatment and care of patients with rare diseases.
