BOKU’s 9th sustainability day 2023

The BOKU sustainability day on the 7th of November 2023 deals with the topic “democracy in the climate crisis – collective effectiveness and active responsibility”. We are especially looking forward to the participation of federal minister Leonore Gewessler and the scheduled panel discussion.

This year’s theme “Democracy in the climate crisis” was chosen in a participatory process with students and focuses on the challenges of the climate crisis. Moreover, the topic highlights and discusses the interconnectedness of politics, science, media and society as well as their collective efforts regarding the climate crisis. To make discourse a focal point of this year’s BOKU sustainability day various actors were invited to a panel discussion instead of the usual Keynote presentation. This format allows room for different perspectives on the challenges regarding “democracy in the climate crisis”. Students and scientists nominated for already existing sustainability initiatives at BOKU and the BOKU sustainability price 2023 have the opportunity to present possible solutions and positive examples.
