Target group
The funding program is aimed at researchers working in the field of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) at universities, non-academic research institutions, and research departments in related sectors.
Funding goals
The mission of the EUP OHAMR is to boost One Health research and innovation leading to improved surveillance of resistant pathogens, better diagnostics and effective treatment of infections and to prevention measures reducing the use of antimicrobials and the spread of AMR.
Funding period and funding amount
The funding period is up to 36 months.

Information on the current call “Treatments and adherence to treatment protocols”
This call for proposals aims to support cross-border research projects (duration: three years) focusing on the provision of innovative and cost-effective treatment options. FWF funding is available for projects on Topics 1 and 3 of the call (details can be found on the OHAMR website):
Topic 1 - Identify and develop new combination treatments using existing or innovative antimicrobials or antimicrobial with adjunctive treatments to extend drug efficacy and combat resistance.
Topic 3 - Assess the impact of antimicrobials for veterinary and agricultural use on the risk of AMR transmission to humans and the environment to inform policies on the restriction of some antimicrobials for human use.
Each proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of six partners from at least three different participating partner countries. A joint proposal must be submitted by the project coordinator to the central Call Secretariat.
The researchers are funded by their respective national/regional funding organizations. The call is being co-financed by the European Union.
Funding organizations from 28 countries are planning to take part in the call. The current list of participating countries can be found on the OHAMR website.

Application information
The pre-proposal must be submitted using the Call Secretariat’s online application system by February 2, 2026. Please see the OHAMR website for the link to the application system after the call has been published.
Application and review are carried out in a two-stage procedure.
- Submission of pre-proposals: November 18, 2025 to February 2, 2026 (1:00 pm CET)
- Deadline for full proposals: June 17, 2026 (1:00 pm CEST)
In addition to the application to the Call Secretariat, administrative and financial data as well as the academic abstracts for the proposal must be submitted to the FWF on elane (in compliance with the FWF application guidelines for Principal Investigator Projects or Clinical Research). In the pre-proposal phase, applications must be submitted under the program category “PIK - International Projects (Pre-Proposals)” (deadline: February 3, 2026, 2:00 pm local time Vienna). For the full proposal phase, please select the program category “KIN – International – Multilateral Initiatives” (deadline: June 18, 2026, 2:00 pm local time Vienna). Both steps are required.
Please note that applications must be approved for submission by the research institutions before the deadlines indicated above. Research institutions must be registered in the FWF's research institution portal.
