In cooperation with the Slovak Research and Development Agency (APVV), the FWF offers funding for closely integrated project collaborations between researchers in Austria and Israel. Bilateral calls in cooperation with APVV give researchers the opportunity to apply for international Principal Investigator Projects. The current call is open until October 13, 2026.

Target group

The funding program is aimed at qualified researchers from all disciplines. For details, please see the respective application guidelines.

Funding goals

Principal Investigator Projects International are intended to fund closely integrated projects in which researchers in Austria and Slovakia make substantial scientific contributions, creating added value through international cooperation.

Funding period and funding amount

Maximum 36 months

Requirements

For international Principal Investigator Projects with Slovakia, the application requirements of the program Principal Investigator Projects applies to FWF applicants.

Approval

  • Applications are reviewed independently by the FWF and the APVV.
  • International Principal Investigator Projects are approved only if both organizations recommend funding the respective application based on the review process.

Application information

  • Proposals are submitted online using the electronic application portal elane.
  • Parallel applications for the respective parts of each project are submitted separately; the national rules of the FWF and the APVV apply.
  • Applications must be submitted by October 13 (2:00 pm Vienna local time) to the FWF and by October 13 (12:00 noon Bratislava local time) to the APVV.
