The funding program is aimed at researchers in Austria working in the fields of biotechnology, artificial intelligence (AI), or quantum research. For details, please see the respective application guidelines.
Funding goals
The cooperation is intended to fund closely integrated projects in which researchers in Austria and Korea make substantial scientific contributions, creating added value through international cooperation.

Requirements
For international Principal Investigator Projects with Korea, the application requirements of the FWF programs Principal Investigator Projects and Clinical Research apply to FWF applicants.
Information on the current call
The call is open to three fields of research: biotechnology, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum research. The submission, evaluation, and financing of the two project parts will be done separately by the FWF and the NRF according to national regulations.
FWF submissions: February 11, 2026 to March 26, 2026 (2:00 pm local time Vienna)
Submissions via elane will be accepted starting February 11, 2026.
NRF submissions: February 11, 2026 to March 26, 2026
Approval
- Applications are reviewed independently by the FWF and the NRF.
- International projects are approved only if both organizations recommend funding the respective application based on the review process.
Application information
- Proposals are submitted online using the electronic application portal elane.
- Parallel applications for the respective parts of each project are submitted separately; the national rules of the FWF and the NRF apply.
- Applications must be submitted by the specified deadline.
