The Future of the Global Water Supply

More and more regions in the world are suffering from extreme weather events caused by the climate crisis. The provision of drinking water is becoming a problem with far-reaching consequences in affected areas, necessitating innovative scientific approaches, models, and methods. Thus, 34 funding agencies, including the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), are calling on researchers to submit transnational projects as part of the European “Water4All” initiative.

How can water security be ensured in the face of extreme weather events? Together with 33 other funding agencies, the FWF is inviting researchers to find scientific answers for affected regions.

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is a member of the European partnership Water4All, which aims to expand our knowledge, build up capacities, and initiate innovative solutions in the area of water security. The idea is to boost systematic changes and transformations across the water spectrum.

First call starting

The first transnational call of this partnership is devoted to developing models, approaches, tools, and methodologies to better understand hydrological processes at a different scale in the context of extreme events.

It is a 2-stage procedure:
Deadline for submission of pre-proposals: 31 September 2022
Deadline for submission of full proposals: 20 March 2023
