FWF has added a new member to the board of its alpha+ Foundation: Susanne Müller-Taborsky (third from left) will join Ursula Jakubek and Georg Winckler in leveraging philanthropy for basic research.

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) has added another member to the board of its non-profit alpha+ Foundation. Susanne Müller-Taborsky, who most recently held a leading position in the banking sector, is the newest member of the alpha+ board of directors. Together with Georg Winckler, former Rector of the University of Vienna, and Ursula Jakubek, Commercial Vice-President of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), financial expert Müller-Taborsky will make up the future board of the alpha+ Foundation.

“Susanne Müller-Taborsky will be an important addition to the alpha+ Foundation. I am very much looking forward to working with her. Her many years of experience in the private banking sector and her international expertise will help strengthen the alpha+ Foundation’ science fundraising activities in the future,” says Chair Georg Winckler.
“Working together with Susanne Müller-Taborsky, we hope to win over even more private supporters and get them involved in science and research. With her skills in the field of investments, Susanne Müller-Taborsky brings comprehensive expertise and know-how to the alpha+ Foundation,” says FWF Commercial Vice-President and Deputy Chair Ursula Jakubek.

“The future needs research.  Basic research, especially, lays the foundation for innovation and sustainable social progress. This is why I’m delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the alpha+ Foundation and help expand philanthropy in science here in Austria,” says Susanne Müller-Taborsky.

Private banking expert from the financial sector

Susanne Müller-Taborsky was most recently Head of Premium Banking at UniCredit Bank Austria AG. Previously, she has held various management positions in private banking, including Head of Premium Banking Business Intelligence at UniCredit Bank Austria and working with national and international private banking customers at the former BankPrivat. She studied at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) and the University for Continuing Education Krems and believes in the need to support research in Austria.

The alpha+ Non-Profit Foundation of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)

With the alpha+ Foundation, the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) offers philanthropically inclined individuals and organisations the opportunity to support excellent researchers throughout Austria. The alpha+ Foundation and the FWF handle the entire process, from the call for proposals and the quality assurance of the research projects to awarding the grant. This way, 100% of every donation goes to the best researchers in Austria. Currently, private donations allow the FWF to finance research projects worth €1.5 million per year.
