The Institute of Medical Genetics at the Center for Pathobiochemistry and Genetics at the Medical University of Vienna is responsible for the medical genetic care in Vienna and its surrounding areas. Our laboratory offers state-of-the-art equipment, e.g. Nanopore - Promethion, PacBio - Revio, Optical Genome Mapping - Bionano, Illumina - NextSeq2000. The applicant is expected to perform diverse tasks in the research and diagnostics of human genetic disorders in an environment that values personal responsibility and individual development. Furthermore, a competent and highly motivated team awaits you.

Your qualification

• University degree in bioinformatics or equivalent (PhD)

• Excellent knowledge in Linux and development of bioinformatics workflows (Bash, Python, R)

• Knowledge of network administration and databases (HPC cluster and SQL)

• Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics

• Exceptional teamwork, time management and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication skills, German language skills are of advantage

• Experience with project management and team leadership is a plus

Your tasks

• Bioinformatics data analysis and data management

• Drafting of publications

• Supervision of master and/or PhD-students

Overview

• Full time (40 hours)

• Starting date as soon as possible

• Minimum gross salary currently € 4752.30 (14x annually, post-doc)
