Our Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. Our Competence Unit for Cooperative Digital Technologies is leading in applied research on the development of data-based IT solutions for various application scenarios, including the design of new and innovative solutions supporting communities in increasing their resilience and achieving their sustainable development goals (SDG). As a reliable partner of industry and public authorities, we work on digital tools for a sustainable and resilient society based on current research results and in collaboration with end users and our customers. The focus of our applications is on climate change impact assessment and the protection of society during crises and disasters.

Specifically, our Sustainable & Resilient Society team focuses on IT concepts and systems for enabling data exchange in different domains. Specific focus is put on IT solutions for crisis & disaster management, and sustainability management in communities & companies:

 

INTERNSHIP "AI-BASED CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTION AND SMART CITIES"

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

 

Under the guidance of our interdisciplinary team, you support in creation and development of digital twins (CityGML based) across diverse sectors, leveraging data and connectivity technologies in cross sectorial projects such as Positive Energy Districts or Climate Neutral neighborhood, or you support in the progress of the Climate and Smart City Mission and obtain validated data for future policies and decision making, or you support in literature search, assessing and helping to improve AI-generated text summaries and helping the potential users to co-design and test the knowledge services using these results.

 

You will gain practical experience with one of the leading research companies in Austria.

You support us in our international project and get exciting insights into our technological environment.

You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers, but also to connect with other bachelor’s, master’s or PhD students.

 

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

You already have your Bachelor’s degree and are enrolled in your Master’s studies in the field of urban development / smart city / spatial planning / regional planning / climate change adaptation and mitigation / social economic / macroeconomy or similar at an Austrian university

Analytical thinking and enthusiasm for highly innovative research

Interest in the conception of scientific studies and application-oriented questions of the industry

Interest to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate on different topics

Very Good verbal and written English skills (team language is English), German and other language skills would be a plus

 

What to expect:

Duration of the internship: minimum 2 months

Start date: spring/summer 2024 – However there is some flexibility concerning the start-date

A remuneration of EUR 1.366,-- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
