We are offering a fully-funded

PhD in Bioinformatics

To support our research in the role of B cells in the skin - from inflammatory skin diseases to primary cutaneous B cell lymphoma.

Your tasks will be:

Analysis of single-cell RNA-sequencing data from our own studies and public data.

Analysis of bulk RNA-seq data and integration with single-cell RNA-sequencing data.

Multi-omics pathway analysis.

(optional) Analysis of MS-based proteomics data.

What we offer:

Training in R and Python-based bioinformatic data analysis

Training in large-scale multi-omics data integration

Automated data analysis using nextflow and docker for reproducible research

Use of high-performance computing environments

Depending on interest: Training in sample prep for transcriptomics and proteomics

Qualifications:

Master in the discipline of computer science, chemical, biological or physical sciences, in the field of biotechnology, bioinformatics, biology, computational genomics, microbiology, physics or molecular biology (M.D. also welcome!)

Interest / experience in software development (preferably R or Python)

Proficiency in English

Who we are:

Our bioinformatic focus is the analysis of (single-cell) transcriptomics and MS-based proteomics data. Our group also includes medical doctors and technicians who perform the clinical studies where we acquire our samples from. Sample processing is done with collaborating core facilities for transcriptomics and mass spectrometry. For large-scale data analyses we have access to Austria’s largest high-performance compute cluster.

How to apply:

Please submit an application including a cover letter, a detailed CV, and relevant certificates to johannes.griss(at)meduniwien.ac.at
