For the present project, we are looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. student to develop novel mucoadhesive polymers and oligomers starting on 01.09.2024. This work is part of the FWF project PAT7337823, which aims to produce new drug delivery systems with prolonged mucosal residence time.

 

Your Tasks

• Synthesis of oligomers and polymers with thiol or unsaturated functionalities

• Chemical characterization of the products using NMR, FT-IR, GPC, etc.

• Investigation of mucoadhesive properties on porcine mucosa via various techniques

• Cellular experiments, such as cell toxicity, cellular uptake, etc.

• Development and optimization of synthetic and analytic methods

 

Your Profile

• Highly motivated person with a Master's degree in chemistry, pharmacy, material sciences, or similar.

• Strong background in polymers. Knowledge about cyclodextrin chemistry is desired.

• Good understanding of biological mechanism

• Passion for research, together with the ability to work both independently and in a team

• Ability to acquire and transfer new knowledge

• Good spoken and written English communication skills (at least level B2). German knowledge is a plus

Fixed-term contract for 36 months. A gross salary of €2684.1 per month (14 times) is planned for this position
