Research Technician in Allergy Research
The position of a research technician is available in the Immunology research group of Ines Swoboda at the Molecular Biotechnology Section, FH Campus Wien, in the field of Allergy Research.
Almost 30% of the population in industrialized countries suffer from IgE-mediated allergies, which affect the quality of daily life, cause a high rate of hospitalizations, and can manifestin serious, life-threatening forms.
The research of the group focuses on the identification and characterization of major allergens from various allergen sources and on the elucidation of the pathomechanisms of respiratory and food allergies. The aim of the work is to contribute to a better understanding of allergic diseases and to the development of tools for improved diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Working on a project that focusses on the identification and characterization of major allergens from various allergen sources
- Knowledge in standard immunological, molecular biological, biochemical, and cell biological techniques
- Training of students and support of PhD students and PostDocs
- Ordering consumables and updating the database
- Reporting on performed tasks (e.g., in group seminars)
Requirements:
- Bachelor/Master/Diploma degree in “Molecular Biotechnology”, “Genetics”, “Molecular Biology”, “Biology”, or “Biochemistry”
- Knowledge in methods of immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology
- Good command of the English language
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
- Good communication, organizational and problem solving skills
Application and conditions:
The project will start in July 2024 and will last for one year.
Depending on the project situation, an extension of the contract is possible. In accordance with the FH Campus Wien salary system, for a Junior Researcher € 2,679.- gross per month (14 times a year) will be paid.
