The University of Vienna, Faculty of Chemistry, is home of the Vienna Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem). DoSChem is the largest doctoral training program in Austria focusing on the field of chemistry and closely related sciences by bringing together more than 200 doctoral students and over 50 principal investigators. The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months and to participate in research, teaching and administration, including:

- Participation in research projects / research studies

- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations

- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement

- Supervision of students

- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums

- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration.

This is part of your personality:

The language of the school is English; therefore, English is required, German is an advantage. Further expectations are:

• Strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills

• Ability to work both, independently and collaboratively

• Involvement in the institute’s and research administration and teaching activities

#1 (Planstelle 10049621):

• Applicants must hold a 1st Class Honors degree (or equivalent) in Organic Chemistry by the time of the appointment

• Only candidates with a Master's degree with a strong theoretical and practical background in the field of organic synthesis/chemistry will be considered

• Experience in heterocyclic chemistry could be regarded as an added value

#2 (Planstelle 10049622):

• Master of Science (Biochemistry, Chemistry or Biology)

• Experience with producing and purifying proteins and protein complexes and characterizing protein-protein interactions and enzymatic activities

• Basic knowledge in the area of structural biology
