Abstract
Title: Education for Children with Disabilities in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: Developing a Sense of
Belonging

This book discusses the influence of environmental factors, especially relationships and attitudes, on
the inclusive education for children with disabilities in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It aims at raising
awareness about the importance of these factors. Thereby, it is important to look at society in general
and at cultural influences in particular that have a huge impact on educational equity and inclusion
and, hence, the lives of children with disabilities. This is essential as fairness and inclusion are two of
the main factors for fulfilling educational equity.
The book underlines the significance of looking at cultural and societal backgrounds when analysing
the efforts of implementing inclusive education. The focus on education is especially meaningful as it
has far-reaching consequences for children with disabilities and their future.
