Austrian Science Awards in the
Spotlight


The FWF’s Austrian Science Awards honor pioneering achievements in research. The awards are presented annually at a formal ceremony, which is attended by around 500 guests from government, science, and research in addition to the award-winning researchers and their teams and families.

The presentation of the Austrian Science Awards is an annual highlight for the Austrian scientific community. At the award ceremony, the FWF honors researchers for their innovative, international-level achievements, presenting them with Austria’s most highly endowed science awards. In 2025, the celebration took place in the arcaded courtyard of Vienna City Hall.
